Whether you’re starting a business or a service, you should utilize digital marketing in order to grow your customer and client list and reach more people. Though, you can’t simply start digital marketing without a plan. There are a couple of areas you must prepare ahead of time. Here are some strategies to help your business grow:
Create a List of Goals for Your Business Your very first step out of what seems to be an overwhelming list of strategies is figuring out what your goals are for your business. Are you looking to increase your customers, be more known in your community or line of work, or do you want to improve your business rating? These are essential questions that you must ask yourself. Once you know what you want out of digital marketing, you can start working toward that goal, and you’ll definitely get closer to achieving it. Knowing where you stand and having a thought-out plan will help you reach success.
Know the Buyer’s Journey of Your Buyer Persona Another strategy that you need to implement is knowing the buyer’s journey of your buyer persona. Your buyer persona is your ideal customer, and his/her buyer’s journey is the research process that he/she goes through that leads him/her to making a purchase.
Let’s split the buyer’s journey into three stages:
- The Awareness Stage: During this stage of the buyer’s journey, the prospect is experiencing and expressing symptoms of a problem or opportunity, and he/she is doing educational research to more clearly understand, frame, and give name to their problem.
- The Consideration Stage: During this stage, the prospect has now clearly defined and given a name to their problem or opportunity and is committed to researching and understanding all of the available approaches and/or methods to solving the defined problem or opportunity.
- The Decision Stage: In this stage stage, the prospect has now decided on their solution strategy, method, or approach and is compiling a long list of all available vendors and products in their given solution strategy. He/she is researching to whittle the long list down to a short list and ultimately make a final purchase decision. This is the stage where your buyer persona could become your customer.
Now, say your buyer persona is a massage therapist and they’re looking to buy a massaging table. Your business sells massaging tables, but in order to market those tables, you must create content relevant to the persona and based on where they are in the buyer’s journey. Therefore, for the awareness stage, you might write an educational blog on why a high-quality massaging table is essential. For the consideration stage, you might want to share a video that shows how your massaging table works and what its benefits are. For the decision stage, you might create content that compares your massaging table with another company’s massaging table. As you can see, you’ve just created a strategy that would lead your buyer persona toward being a loyal customer.
Create Relevant Calls-to-Action Having Calls-to-Action (CTA) is a great way to grow your customer/client list. Whenever you post a blog, a video, or just about anything on your website, you should have a relevant CTA to go with it. CTAs could be free, educational eBooks, guides, trial downloads, helpful worksheets, and such. The way these can help you with digital marketing is by transporting a potential customer to a landing page. When an ideal customer finds your blog or video, he or she will also get to see your CTA. If that CTA is relevant to what they found interesting in the blog or video, they will click on the CTA and go to the landing page. There, they will have to enter a couple of information about themselves in order to receive their free eBook, trial download, etc… As a result, you will then have their name and email address, and they would officially become a lead.
Start Generating Leads Knowing what content to publish for the buyer’s journey and what CTAs to create should not be your only digital marketing strategies. If you want to generate more leads by driving traffic back to your website, you will also need to ensure that your content is strong. At the same time, you will need to insert appropriate keywords into your content in order to get better search engine optimization. Additionally, social media should be another priority. Continuously share blog posts, photos, videos, and relevant links on your various social media platforms, like Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Google+, Instagram, Vine, YouTube, Tumblr, and others. Having content there will get you more online leads and drive traffic back to your website. Read this blog about newer Social Media channels.
These easy to follow strategies will truly help you grow your business, be more known in your community or field, and get a better ranking.
